Work Motivators - a model to understand the value system of
employees.
The goal of this study was to
understand the different emotional factors that give energy and motivate people at work,
especially in relation to changes in organisations with contradictory goals.
The methods used were in depth
interviews and the Rorschach.
This research identifies two
dimensions that clearly separate a persons values and behaviour the existential
dimension and the authoritative dimension. |
Each
of these dimensions contains three dispositions A persons dominant approach to life's
meaning can be achieved through relationships, control or a balance between relationship
and control, whilst in the authoritative dimension, the approach is dependence,
independence or counter-dependence.
By combining the variables nine
different motivational approaches can be constructed.
The skilful manager understands
that an employee's various motivational approaches can be used effectively by
letting these differences flourish and compliment each other. |
